The Alamo 2022
Our teams smashed the Alamo 2022! They came 1st and 4th out of 11 teams.
The challenge was a 12.7km hike through the night without adult support. Very impressive!!29th Jun, 2022
SCAS came to see the Cubs as part of thewir Emergency Aid Badge!
Aidan, one of the Scout Leaders treated the Cubs to an amazing evening. I think most of the ambulance contents ended up in the Richard room. Cubs certainly learnt what kit is carried and how it is used.

4th Newbury are delighted to be back to face-2-face Scouting this term. All sections are operating some level of face-2-face meetings as well as online Scouting and are praying for good weather.

Scout Alamo Success
Congratulations to the 10 Scouts who took part in the Kennet District Alamo competition last weekend. An overnight incident hike where the Scouts navigate round a course completing a number of challenges en-route, with one team finishing in an admirable 2nd place just a point behind the winners, 1st Hungerford.

Congratulations to the 10 Scouts who took part in the County Dragon Boat Regatta at the weekend, narrowly being beating to 2nd place in the final after competing against teams for all over Berkshire (and they were all giants)

New Leaders
With the start of 2018 we have a few new leaders to introduce to the Group.
Sue and Kate stepped down from running Beavers at the end of 2017 and Ian and Kim have stepped in to take over the section.
Gemma also left Scouts in August last year, and Andy has joined us this term to help!

Dragon Boat Success
Congratulations to the Scouts who took part in the Berkshire County Dragon Boat Regatta at the weekend, beating 23 other teams to retain the trophy!

Beavers learn about Army flying
4th Newbury Beavers recently visited the Museum of Army Flight in Middle Wallop - where Prince Harry learned to fly. While not quite ready for their first solo flight they did learn about the types of aircraft and helicopters that the Army use, and had a go at marshalling planes. All had a chance to sit in an Army Scout helicopter before getting their photo taken in front of the Beaver plane!

Cubs complete Bayer 10k Junior Race
As part of their Skills Challenge, Cubs had to try a new skill so what better than to enter a fun run. So 17 cubs entered the Bayer 10k race in Newbury this morning. What an impressive sight running the race in their neckars.

Swimming Success
Congratulations to all the Cubs and Scouts that took part in the Kennet District Swimming Gala last night. The Cubs and the under 12 Scouts both came home with the trophies, the over 12 Scouts were narrowly beaten by 1 point!

Well done to the Scouts that took part in the Berkshire County Dragon Boat Regatta at the weekend. For our first attempt, all did really well with the team being narrowly beaten in the semi-finals! We will return in 2016....

Congratulations to all who took part in the Kennet District Archery Competition last weekend. Our Cubs won the Cub event, but with the help of the Beavers and Scouts, we also won the Group Trophy. Well done to all!

We're again collection the Sainsburys Active Kids vouchers for 2014. Any donations would be gratefully received!!

With a little bit of help from some Scouts, Cubs and Beavers the Executive Committee ran a stall at the St Johns Christmas Fair over the weekend - raising some group funds which will contribute towards the running of the Group

Group Donation Pays Off!
A few years ago our long-standing Group Scout Leader retired, Father Bernard Dagnall. As a gift the Group had a collection for Anthonys Church, Penyi, Ghana
Two months ago Father Bernard went there to see where the money had gone. It was spent on a water tank so that the school and church at Penyi could have a more regular water supply. The local vicar, Fr Simon thanks you all very much for your generosity!18th Mar, 2012
