An Introduction To Scouting |
Welcome to the Web Site of the 4th Newbury (St Johns) Scout Group Are you new to Scouting? Have you always wondered what Scouting is all about? Well below our Scout Leader Nigel Sayers tells us a little more as to why Scouting is so beneficial. Dear Reader The Scout Movement is one of the greatest and most progressive youth movements in the world. It is often described as the brotherhood of Scouting, because the ideals of the movement are multi-cultural, multi-faith and embrace over 6 million people world-wide. 4th Newbury Scouts are just a small but like all groups very important part of this international movement. We provide an attractive programme for young people aged between 6 years old and 15.5 years old, helping them learn new skills, make new friends and encouraging them to help others. Scouting activities are not about being the best but are about, involvement, encouraging responsibility, self-reliance and gaining skills that will prove valuable in the young persons future. As the Scouts get older they are encouraged to make decisions on how their section is run and organise activities. The importance of team work is emphasised throughout Scouting especially during games, which are designed to be co-operative as well as competitive. For any young person or parent wanting to encourage the development of their child physically, intellectually and to widen their circle of friends and peers, why not get in touch with us (insert Contact link). Come and see what Scouting has to offer you do not just rely on an image of what you believe it is like, See for yorself!!. The most important thing at the 4th Newbury (St Johns) is we believe Scouting should be Fun!! Yours Sincerely
